Mykonos has the largest day-charter fleet in Greece and one of the most uneven in quality. We reviewed 34 operators and 47 individual boats running out of New Port, Ornos, and Platis Gialos for the 2026 season. The 9 ranked here are the ones we would book this summer. The four we passed on are below.
Rates run €1,800 to €18,500 per day in 2026, including fuel and a basic captain-and-deckhand crew. Catering, beverage above water, fuel surcharges on the long Rhenia-Delos-Polyaigos day, and tip are typically extra. Most day-charter contracts in Mykonos are 8 to 10 hours from dock to dock; ask which.
The Editor's Pick is a 24m Sanlorenzo SX76 day-charter run by [VERIFY: operator name] out of New Port. The runner-up is a 16m Axopar 37 sport day-cruiser for the right brief.
How we ranked
For day charter, the priorities are different from a weekly charter brief. We weighted captain competence at 25 percent, boat condition and recency of mechanical service at 20 percent, on-board kit (shade, sound, water-toy quality) at 20 percent, dock-out and pick-up logistics at 15 percent (Mykonos New Port is chaotic in August), price-to-spec ratio at 10 percent, and catering quality if it is included at 10 percent.
We did not weight Instagram. Day-charter operators in Mykonos invest heavily in social. The boats on social are not always the boats on the water.
No. I — Editor's Pick: [VERIFY: 24m Sanlorenzo SX76 day-charter operator name]
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| LOA | 23.6m |
| Year built | 2022 |
| Builder | Sanlorenzo |
| Guests | 12 daytime |
| Crew | 3 (captain, deckhand, hostess) |
| Day rate | €6,500 to €8,200 plus €450 fuel surcharge and catering |
| Verdict | ★ Worth it |
A 24m Sanlorenzo run as a day-charter only, never overnight, with a captain who has been in Mykonos waters 11 seasons. The boat is mechanically serviced every Monday during the season. Toy package includes two SeaBobs, four paddleboards, snorkel kit for 12, an inflatable platform, and a 4m sailing dinghy that is rarely used but available. The hostess is on the boat the full season (no rotators), and the catering is run through [VERIFY: catering name] at €120 to €180 per guest depending on tier. Dock-out from New Port at 09:30, pick-up at 18:30 by default; willing to extend to 19:30 for an additional €400 plus crew overtime.
What it is bad at: not the boat for a group that wants speed; cruising speed is 18 knots and the run to Polyaigos and back is a 5-hour day on the water, not 3. The boat is in demand and books out 60 to 90 days ahead for August Saturdays.
No. II — Runner-up: [VERIFY: 16m Axopar 37 day-charter operator name]
A 16m Axopar 37 with twin Mercury 400s. Speed is the brief. Rhenia and Delos in 25 minutes from New Port. Rate €1,800 to €2,400 per day, 8 hours, captain plus one. Maximum 10 guests. Right answer for a guest party of 6 to 8 who want to do three islands in a day, swim at three coves, and be back in town for a 21:00 dinner. The reason it is the runner-up rather than the Editor's Pick is the boat is small, the shade is limited to a folding bimini, and the catering option is a packed lunch from [VERIFY: catering name] rather than a hot service.
No. III — [VERIFY: 30m Pershing 100 day-charter operator name]
A 30m Pershing run as a day-charter and short-overnight. Rate €11,500 to €13,800 per day. The reason this ranks third is the boat is excellent and the captain has 8 seasons in Mykonos waters, the bar is on the small side for a 12-guest party, the at-anchor stability in the meltemi-driven chop off Rhenia is competent rather than excellent, and the Pershing aesthetic skews younger and faster than some day-charter clients want.
No. IV — [VERIFY: 21m Frauscher day-charter operator name]
A 21m Frauscher run as a six-guest day-charter. Rate €4,200 to €5,200 per day. Suits a small group of 4 to 6 who want a higher-end day boat without committing to a 24m+. The reason it ranks at IV is the toy package is light and the catering is captain-and-deckhand-served rather than hosted.
No. V — [VERIFY: 19m Axopar 45 Cross Cabin day-charter operator name]
A 19m Axopar 45 with the Cross Cabin. Better shade structure than the Axopar 37, faster than the Sanlorenzo, less internal volume than either. Rate €2,800 to €3,500 per day. Suits a guest party of 6 to 8 who want speed and a covered cabin.
No. VI — [VERIFY: 26m Fairline Squadron day-charter operator name]
A 26m Fairline Squadron run by a smaller operator. Rate €5,500 to €6,800 per day. The reason this ranks at No. VI is the boat is well-kept but the operator runs 4 boats and the captain rotation is meaningful: you cannot book a specific captain, only the operator's general pool. For a Mykonos day-charter, captain competence matters disproportionately and a rotated captain is a meaningful downgrade.
No. VII — [VERIFY: 17m Cranchi Sessantasette day-charter operator name]
A 17m Cranchi at the lower end of the day rate, €1,900 to €2,400. Sensibly equipped, captain is experienced, no major flaws. Suits a budget-conscious day-charter brief for 6 to 8 guests.
No. VIII — [VERIFY: 25m Pearl 75 day-charter operator name]
A 25m Pearl 75 marketed at the Mykonos day-charter market in 2025 and 2026. Rate €7,200 to €8,800. The reason this ranks at No. VIII is the boat is sound, the captain is experienced, but the operator is new to Mykonos in 2024 and the dock-out logistics from New Port are not yet smooth. Friday and Saturday August dock-outs have been late 3 to 5 times in 2025 by our verification, and the operator's response has been competent rather than urgent.
No. IX — [VERIFY: 28m Sunseeker Manhattan day-charter operator name]
A 28m Sunseeker Manhattan run as a day-charter only. Rate €9,500 to €11,200. The reason this is on the list is the rate-to-volume is the best on the guide for a 12-guest party that wants a flying bridge and an enclosed saloon. The reason it ranks ninth is the at-anchor stability is competent rather than excellent and the toy package is conventional.
Passed on
Passed: [VERIFY: 18m party-boat day-charter operator name]. Mykonos-themed party boat with sound system, dancers, and the rest. We do not rank these because they serve a different brief and the safety record is meaningfully worse than the operators on this list. Booking is straightforward if you know what you are buying.
Passed: [VERIFY: 22m operator with maintenance issues name]. Two confirmed mechanical aborts during 2025 charters (one engine-out at sea, one stabilizer failure). The operator's response on refund and on-boat replacement has been adequate but the boat itself has not had a meaningful service overhaul.
Passed: [VERIFY: large 30m+ Mykonos operator with crew turnover name]. Four-boat operator with high crew turnover. The booking experience is professional; the on-water experience varies by which captain you draw. Day-charter is a captain-led product and rotators are a meaningful downgrade at the rate this operator quotes.
Passed: [VERIFY: web-only Mykonos day-charter aggregator name]. Aggregator that markets a fleet of 12 boats it does not own or directly operate. The rates are 15 to 20 percent above the source-operator rates because the aggregator is taking a commission. If you can find the source operator, book direct.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best day from Mykonos by boat?
The Rhenia and Delos loop is the classic. Three swim stops on Rhenia, a Delos visit (Delos requires a licensed guide; the captain coordinates), and lunch on the boat or at [VERIFY: Rhenia beach restaurant]. The full day is 8 to 9 hours. For more range, the run south to Polyaigos and back is 10 hours and the best Cycladic swim day in the region. Operators on this list will do both; rate increases for fuel.
Can we drop someone at a beach club for lunch?
Yes. Nammos and Scorpios both have water-side drop-off, and the captain will coordinate with the beach club's tender service. Build it into the itinerary at booking; do not assume same-day flexibility in August.
What is the meltemi and when does it hit?
The meltemi is the northerly wind that funnels through the Aegean from mid-July through August. It runs 20 to 35 knots and turns the seas off Rhenia and Delos uncomfortable for any boat under 20m. Operators on this list will reroute to the south or east of Mykonos on a meltemi day rather than push the brief.
Is the rate negotiable?
Tuesday and Wednesday in July and August are bookable at 5 to 10 percent below brochure. Saturday and Sunday in August are not. Late September Saturdays will negotiate 15 to 20 percent.
Should we pre-book catering or order on board?
Pre-book. The kit on board can produce drinks, fruit, and basic snacks; full lunch with quality is a delivery from a Mykonos caterer arranged the day before. [VERIFY: caterer name] and [VERIFY: caterer name 2] are the operator preferences for the boats on this list.
How do we tip?
Cash at the end of the day. €100 to €200 per crew member for a standard 8-hour day is the convention. €300 plus for an extended day or a special-occasion booking. Some operators add a service charge; if so, the tip is at your discretion.
