A 15m motor yacht departing Marina Botafoch at 10am on the second Saturday of August, taking eight guests to Formentera for swimming off Espalmador, lunch at Beso Beach, and back to Ibiza Town at 7pm, costs €5,400 day rate plus €2,100 fuel plus €720 tip. The same boat in the third week of June costs €3,800 day rate plus €1,500 fuel plus €510 tip. In October, the same boat runs €2,800 day rate plus €1,200 fuel plus €380 tip. Three months, same hull, same captain, €3,700 swing.

This page itemises the actual cost of a day on the water from Ibiza in 2026 across every boat category, season window, and line item. We name what the strong operators include and what the weak operators charge extra. The data is calibrated against 92 day-charter quotes pulled from six Ibiza operators across April and early May 2026.

The four boat categories

Ibiza day charter inventory breaks into four categories, each with its own pricing logic.

RIBs, 7 to 9m, 6 to 10 guests. Open inflatable-tube boats with twin outboards. Fast, wet, and simple. Cala Bassa to Cala Comte to Formentera in under an hour. Peak day rates €900 to €2,000 with skipper, half-day from €500. The most active value category in Ibiza.

Motor yachts, 12 to 18m, 6 to 12 guests. Cabin yachts with shade, bathroom, sound system, swim platform, and crew. The mainstream Ibiza day-charter category, and the dominant choice for the Formentera lunch day. Peak day rates €3,200 to €8,800 with skipper and steward.

Sailing yachts and catamarans, 14 to 22m, 8 to 14 guests. Sailing monohulls or cruising catamarans. Catamarans run engines most of the day in light Pityusic winds. More space and shade than a comparable motor yacht. Peak day rates €2,700 to €7,500 with crew of 2 to 3.

Superyachts, 22 to 35m, 10 to 16 guests. Large motor yachts with full interior, multiple cabins, premium tender, water toys, chef, and crew of 4 to 8. Peak day rates €12,000 to €22,000. The top end of the Ibiza day-charter market.

What the day rate actually includes

Ibiza quotes vary widely on inclusions. Always confirm before booking.

Boat and skipper, always. The headline rate covers the boat and licensed captain in every legitimate quote. If a quote is below the table above, check whether the skipper is included.

Fuel. Sometimes. RIBs and the smallest motor yachts often include a defined cruising range (20 to 30 nautical miles). Boats above 14m charge fuel separately at €4.50 to €6.20 per litre. A 15m motor yacht burns 250 to 380 litres on a standard Formentera day from Ibiza Town. A 25m superyacht burns 600 to 900 litres on the same day.

Hostess or steward. Standard on boats above 12m. Some operators charge €200 to €400 separately for the second crew on smaller boats.

Lunch. Variable. The pattern in Ibiza is that most clients eat ashore at Formentera (Beso Beach, Juan y Andrea, Es Ministre, Chiringuito 10) rather than on board. Expect €90 to €180 per guest plus drinks at the better Formentera beach restaurants. Onboard catering, where offered, runs €60 to €140 per guest.

Drinks. Almost always extra. Soft drinks and beer modestly priced. Wine €25 to €120 per bottle. Champagne €70 to €280.

Water toys. Variable. Snorkels, masks, and paddleboards usually included. Jet skis, foils, towed inflatables typically €120 to €450 daily supplement. A few operators include jet skis on superyacht charters.

Mooring and anchor fees. Always extra. Formentera anchorage fees apply at the well-known coves (Espalmador, Cala Saona, Illetes); rates run €30 to €120 a day depending on boat size and zone. Marina Ibiza or Botafoch dockage is included in home-base fees.

Tip. Always extra. 10 to 15 percent of day rate in cash to the captain.

How peak season builds in

Three demand spikes inside the Ibiza calendar.

Mid-July to mid-September. Base peak. Rates run 25 to 35 percent above June and October. Booking lead time 5 to 8 weeks for boats above 14m.

Spanish and Italian holidays. 13 to 17 August (Spanish Assumption and Italian Ferragosto). Adds 15 to 25 percent above base peak. Inventory above 18m sells out by early July.

Weekend premium. Saturday and Sunday in peak run 5 to 12 percent above midweek equivalents on most operators. The strongest operators flatten the weekly rate, which is one signal of quality.

What we would pass on

Three patterns we tell clients to avoid in Ibiza.

Three-hour party packages billed as "boat charters." Operators selling 11am to 2pm Formentera lunch packages on shared boats with bottle service and DJs are running a different product, priced by the head (€90 to €180 per head), and are not what we mean by a day charter. The product is fine on its own terms, but it is not a private day on the water. If you are pricing a private day for 8 to 12 guests, do not let an operator quote you the per-head shared product as an alternative.

Marina Botafoch in the second week of August. The marina turnover, the August traffic at the entrance, and the dockage congestion produce 30 to 60 minute delays at the start and end of every day. If you can base out of San Antonio or Santa Eulalia for that window, the day is materially cleaner and the boat is the same.

The €2,500 "Formentera day" advertised online in May for August dates. Inventory at the genuine 14 to 16m motor yacht band is not available at that rate in peak August. If you book the quote, you will arrive to a 12m boat with one crew, no shade above the cockpit, and no toilet large enough for adult guests. Pay the real rate or drop to a RIB.

Operators we would call first

The strong Ibiza operators run consistent fleets, transparent quotes, and captains who have been on the same hull two or more seasons. We name them in Best day charters Ibiza with our Editor's Pick and full ranking. The platforms with deepest Ibiza inventory are reviewed in Boatsetter, Click and Boat, and SamBoat.

FAQ

How much does a day charter cost in Ibiza? A 14 to 16m motor yacht for a Formentera day with 8 guests runs €4,800 to €6,800 base day rate in peak August. Fuel, lunch, drinks, and tip add another €1,800 to €3,200. A typical all-in day for 8 guests on a mid-range boat is €7,500 to €9,500 in peak season. RIBs start at €900. Superyachts run €14,000 to €22,000.

Is fuel included in Ibiza day charter rates? Sometimes for boats under 12m, almost never for boats above. Larger boats charge separately at €4.50 to €6.20 per litre. A 15m motor yacht burns 250 to 380 litres on a Formentera day from Ibiza Town. Always confirm the consumption figure with the operator.

What is the best month for a day charter in Ibiza? Late May, early June, and September. Rates 25 to 35 percent below peak August. Water 22 to 25 degrees Celsius, wind workable. Avoid mid-July to mid-August unless you accept peak pricing and 5 to 8 week lead times.

Do you need a captain to rent a boat in Ibiza? For most charter boats yes. Spanish regulations require a captain above 6 to 7m unless the renter holds the relevant PER licence. Bareboat self-skipper exists for small RIBs and a few sailing yachts with qualified renters.

How much should I tip the crew on an Ibiza day charter? 10 to 15 percent of the day rate in cash, given to the captain at the end of the day. A €5,000 day rate carries a €500 to €750 tip. The captain distributes via the crew pool.
